This. If ESPN is offering the AAC 2x their current payout per team if they add
the remaining B12 schools, and the remaining B12 schools are staring down the barrel of a reduced TV contract followed by having to negotiate another TV contract in 2025 with only one bidder (Fox), I could see how it might make sense for both parties to just merge into a new, larger AAC.

Meanwhile ESPN saves the $150M on exit fees for OU and UT (which were supposedly going to be paid by ESPN in exchange for UT dropping the LHN) and they don’t have to finish paying the current B12 TV contract until 2025.

As long as BYU is part of the 20 teams in it I don’t care if it’s called the AAC or B12.
