I personally think the 12 team format is flawless....
overall inclusion is ample. No way the top team is not inside the top 12. The highest ranked four conference champions with first round byes keeps the pressure on during the late season to keep things interesting.
I guess the 16 team format would work, I like 12 better. I also think rewarding 16 teams with a playoff bid diminishes the accomplishment of making it into the playoffs.
