and I hope all courses move to this system...the system is: if you are a hole and a half behind the group in front of you then you skip a hole. Your greens fees are paying for 4:15 hours of play (you're not paying for 18 holes). If a group can't keep up, then they need to get off the course sooner (not have 2 or 3 groups play through them). Every hole they skip saves everyone behind them 15 minutes.
Generally, a first offense is a warning...but if after a warning the slow playing group hasn't closed the gap with the group in front... then (at the marshal's discretion) the group is asked to skip the next hole. Each course has signs that clearly state the rule and most often courses with the rule will also flash the rule on the gps monitor when the golfers are at the 1st tee.
Nearly all of my rounds start before 7am... I pref sub 3:30 hour rounds. I think slow play hurts the game.
