I’m not saying we’d win right away but I’m not saying it’s out of the realm of possibilities.
It’s more about having the depth to survive a potentially brutal stretch of games, but if the schedule lays nicely there isn’t necessarily that brutal stretch in this Big XII.
Most of these teams are finesse teams that try to outscore you. Where you start to wear down over a season is when teams beat you up in the trenches week after week. TCU struggled a bit initially because they weren’t up to snuff in the trenches and everyone had athletes on the outside (as opposed to MWC where they were ahead on the outsides and more than good enough in the trenches for MWC teams). Plus add the combination of playing OU/UT between the Kansas schools…
Utah struggled because there were no freebies (and in the MWC they sometimes even lost the freebies) and they always lacked consistency in the MWC. Lost to at least one of UNLV, New Mexico, Wyoming, CSU every year it seemed…they are a much more consistent team now because their doesn’t completely suck most of the time now…only some of the time…
