That’s not a real hopeful interview. Basically says that ESPN is preventing BYU
from joining because we’re too complicated to work with, and that college presidents are hesitant to support us because of our religious beliefs. To be fair, some of our religious beliefs are indeed out of step with where the rest of society is (LGBT issues, Sunday play, etc), but still…
Not a lot to give us hope. We may be stuck in G5 mediocre land for a long time. Or maybe the revamped Big 12 will be somewhere in the middle between G5 and P5, and they will be desperate enough to overlook BYU’s issues.
Regardless, it sounds like BYU’s got some big obstacles to overcome.
