I did both as an undergrad. Much preferred the semester

I did quarters for a year at UCLA. The breaks are so long at a UC and the quarters are just too short imo - even compared to short BYU semesters. I felt like we didn't get into enough depth in any of my classes at UCLA.

On a tangent, I loved everything about UCLA except the academic experience. Detested my classes there.

I liked the the setup. Spring/summer classes were my favorite, but also enjoyed

Most universities use the semester system. Most teaching materials are likewise designed around the semester.

In the PAC 12 it might make more sense because more schools are on that system.
