That’s dumb and lazy. There are lots and lots of high character kids back east.
It would be some work to create a new network with coaches and others in the football community there, but that should be expected with the amount they are getting paid.

In the long term if they are trying to build that program, they should put more of their focus on the local communities, and branch out from there.

But specifically making LDS kids, especially ones out west, a primary recruiting target, is garbage, and a slap to BYU. Hopefully P5 status and Big 12 are enough to stop whatever appeal Bronco is offering to these kids.

Kalani is making progress to build the program, but Bronco going after these kids is making that more difficult, and Bronco knows it, and selfishly doesn’t care.

But mostly it’s totally unnecessary, because for every highly rated LDS kid out there, there is probably at least 10 others who are just as good and just as willing to consider Virginia, if those coaches would go after them instead.

But they are not, they are going after LDS kids and using the fact that they (the coaches) are also LDS and will help them have a similar experience to BYU, without any of BYU’s downside (mainly up until this point not being in a P5 conference), just like Whittingham does.

It’s lame, and I don’t like them because of it.
