It works in a small company because # of employees relative to the executives is
small

So the CEO takes a lower pay and that flows through to everyone.

If you are a huge company with say 100,000 employees and the CEO takes a $10 M pay cut to give to everyone else, then all of the employees get $100 dollars a year or a nickel an hour.

People saying that this is proof that all companies could pay more are not realizing that small company CEOs are probably a lot more over paid than large company CEOs relative to the organization.
