BYU had a decent wrestling tradition. A few indiv. NCAA runner-ups and some AAs.
No champs, although, frustratingly, when the program folded BYU had a future NCAA champ (Brady Holker) on the roster and Olympic champ Mark Schultz was the coach.

Steve Sanderson, patriarch of the Sanderson dynasty, is a BYU alum and resides about 30 minutes from Provo. In a perfect world, BYU would have gone all-in on wrestling in the mid-90s and the Sanderson brothers would have stayed home at BYU. Holker, Matt Brown, David Taylor, and probably some others win their NCAA titles at BYU, which could be pushing Iowa and OkSt. to be the predominant NCAA program instead of Penn St. A lot of what ifs of course, but probably not too far flung.
