BYU is probably about as good this year as they were in 2018 & 2019. We beat a bad, likely winless Arizona by one score, beat Utah’s worst team in 5-6 years (stll wahoo though) and were a bit lucky to beat a decent ASU team. I know a lot of guys were out and/or injured but even when healthy the front 6-7 have not looked great. And I just don’t see any real increase in depth or talent (although the secondary does seem pretty decent).
Ultimately proclaim 4-0 or whatever but there are major chinks in the armor and it’s only a matter of time before those are exposed by a better opponent. Luckily there are no real world beaters on the schedule but I still think BYU struggles down the stretch.
One thing that everyone should agree on is that the defensive game plan was garbage. Even with guys out and facing an athletic QB, you have to make him feel the heat. Dude was way too comfortable back there and BYU did nothing to change that. Like I’ve said before, lack of pressure creates a lower ceiling for the team and program.
