The problem with CFB is sample size. Teams change significantly from year to
Year so you have to start with some big assumptions. By week 7 or 8 you’re starting to develop strong opinions on the top 3-5 teams but that next tier is incredibly difficult to rank objectively.
Bottom line is I don’t get upset when Clemson is ranked ahead of BYU in this situation because I have to admit they’re Clemson and they have the top 2-3% of athletes from across the country on their team. When they figure out how to put it together they’ll be an instant juggernaut. That’s just reality from my POV.
