They don't matter, that's the point.

If a recruit is all consumed about the AP poll and making a choice based off of that, they could be looking at the wrong recruit. Nonetheless, I simply cannot imagine a recruit caring in week four what a team is ranked. They care about what they're ranked at the end of the year and what bowl game they played in.
