He wants to rank teams purely on this season’s results, without looking at historical reputations or past seasons.
So what is he basing his rankings on so early in the season? If he ignored past years, how would Georgia’s win over Clemson be considered so impressive? Or Arkansas’ win over Texas? On what basis was Texas considered a good team after two weeks of play?
I like his thought process, in general. But wouldn’t it take 6-8 weeks of results to start separating the good teams from the bad and creating order in the football world?
My guess is that even if the Sun Belt teams went out and knocked off a bunch of P5 teams, he wouldn’t be giving them the same credit that he gives to the traditional powerhouse teams.
