About half of college football has at least an outside shot of the playoffs at the beginning of the season. a few weeks in there are probably about 15 in the race. Get into back half of the season there are 5-10 that have a shot at the playoffs. A 12 team playoff would change the dynamic of it so much to where teams could fight back after a tough loss or two and still make the playoff.

I know a lot of folks on CB are postseason folks, Which it is all about NY6 games. They give up all hope after one loss because all they care about is the postseason. For me I just enjoy the journey and root for the team to be in the top 25 and win against big opponents. That is where BYU is now. If the playoff expands to 12, then BYU has a better chance being part of the conversation.

Being in the B12 will give us better bowl tie-ins, but at the end of the day every NY6 bowl game or bigger bowl is another exhibition, equivalent to a regular season game and isn't significantly more relevant than any other bowl game. Current 4 game playoff has taken that relevancy away.

Need to expand the playoff to give more fans something to hope and cheer for after 1 loss.
