And that's just a quick and dirty google search... I'm sure there are other colors that the Lakers have worn over the last few years.

More to the point, the Lakers are members of a small group of franchises with uniforms and brands that are iconic, instantly recognizable, and too sacred to tweak. You don't mess with the Yankee's pinstripes / the Packer's uniforms / the Laker's jerseys, etc.

Frankly, the Jazz aren't a brand on that level, and shouldn't be expected to have that sort of consistency. But if the Lakers are the gold standard, Utah's current jerseys and color scheme are more aligned with that than Ryan Smith's rumored rebrand. The current jerseys and colors are a direct tribute to the franchise's roots - and "Black for Black's Sake" rebrand (a trend that was cool 10 years ago and is, frankly, on the way out) is a move that makes the Jazz more like the Atlanta Hawks than the LA Lakers in terms of a cohesive and iconic brand identity.
