Jaren Hall is an important Figure in history as the first Black Starting QB in BYU history. If he were the first female, first Muslim, first Mexican or any other first, it wouldn’t matter that it be pointed out. But once it’s singling out race, black specifically, it’s an issue.

There was an issue with race in our church. Brigham young himself supported slavery so yes, it’s great for black church members like myself to see someone like me succeed at the highest spot on my favorite team.
