I lived in Asia for 15+ years and hot water and tea is a staple. In China water was almost always served warm to hot because drinking cold water is not good for the body's "Xi". I had some visits with Chinese Medicine practioners while I lived out there to help with some sleeping issues, and they all told me the same thing, to stop drinking cold liquids, nothing colder than room temp but the warmer the better.
Does it matter what chemicals/content is in the liquid that led to the results in these studies, or was it found to just be temp of the liquid? Looks like I found a rabbit hole to dive down on this business trip...
