Both teams have a G5 loss, but Utah's is to #22 San Diego St. BYU has the loss to 3-4 Boise St.

The way I see it, BYU has better wins
BYU has legit wins against Arizona St and Utah, then a bunch of fluff, Arizona's P5 status notwithstanding - maybe USU hits slightly above fluff;
Utah has Arizona St as legit, then USC and maybe Wazzu as somewhere between fluff and legit, then fluff

So I'll give BYU credit for 2 meaningful wins, and Utah credit for 1.5

But Utah doesn't have any bad losses - they've only lost to top 30 teams, whereas BYU has that ugly Boise loss.

For me that puts the two close enough that I'd leave BYU ahead based on H2H, but I also understand how someone could favor Utah if they put more emphasis on recency. The more I look at it, the less I think it's clear. They're really close. For me, it'd be BYU, but I can't argue with anyone who chooses otherwise
