I have used both Generac and Cummins.
They are both fine. Hard line to the natural gas is definitely the way to go.
Also, just be thinking about how much you want to run. Do you just want to keep appliances and a few lights on, or do you want to turn on the whole house and also run extension cords to the neighbors? Definitely nice to have some extra capacity when you need it.
