I've watched football for years
I go to or watch every BYU football game. I think I know quite a bit about football and specifically BYU football. I have opinions about this and that on the way the team is coached and what plays should be called and what all.

But I'm not the guy there putting in the long hours and working one on one with the players and studying film and building a team and a program. I couldn't just step in and do that. It's way over my head.

The coaches are making decisions based on their vast knowledge and ability to do that job. That's why they get paid so much to do it. It's very competitive and it requires them to do a great job and to win games. A lot of work and decisions go into playing a game and coming away with a win.

Sometimes the other team plays better. Sometimes your players just aren't up to the task, because of injuries or whatever. Sometimes you lose. Nobody wins every game. There's a lot of variables, a strong human element out on the field of play. Sometimes it just doesn't go your way.

Schools are hiring the best coach for their school they can find and he is hiring the best assistants he can find. Sometimes that pays off and the team wins and sometimes not so much. It's a tough job. Coaches work hard to succeed.

The average guy, or anyone, on CB just could not step in and do that job, make those decisions, build a winning program. But a lot of average Monday Morning QB's think they know better. On Monday Morning. After the fact. When something else might have worked better. Second guessing is for the non coaches. It's much easier than making decisions during the game.
