There has to be paper or cotton or some other substance to block the gunpowder.
Additionally, the sides of the casing are crimped in and there is typically more powder as they are for show.
If they were packed wrong or within five or six feet of the firearm, there are known issues. Not sure what happened here, though.

"Prop guns" can qualify as firearms. Should never be pointed at someone.

Holy cow. How tragic. I feel awful both for the families of the victims and for Baldwin.

I'll never forget when Phineas Bogg died. It ruined one of my favorite shows

I’ve seen at least five different cop shows with this exact plot line.

The article said “meant to be loaded with blanks” as if it weren’t. But then

A blank can still be lethal

There’s usually not a projectile with blanks. Just the gunpowder in the shell. Hence why they’re blanks.

Blanks have to be encased in brass or other metal

I didn’t realize the adapter we put on our M16s stopped anything when we went to the field to fire blanks. I thought it

And usually a wad. Like USMC said, there will often be some sort of projectile. A kid in St G killed himself anfew
