Yea, paper is pretty bad if your laptop has no airflow underneath. Most likely,
you've done no damage. Just learn from it and move on.
I once had a laptop that would get really hot just in my lap. A lap desk took care of that problem for that laptop.

It’s probably fine. If the processor actually gets too hot it will shut itself
