Innovators like Dewey Warren, Doug Scoville, And others generated the scheme
which in turn brought in the talent, wins and rankings you mentioned. Early-era LaVell’s assistants were better and stayed less time than late-era LaVell assistants but the talent was better later in his career.

LaVell had numerous assistants who were at BYU for 10+ years. Were they not leaving BYU because they weren't any good?
