I'm not familiar with Spice World, but you don't need to watch it before.

Given the interviews I watched with Denis Villeneuve, he talked about expressing his vision and feelings from 40 years ago when he read the books as a Teenager. From Denis perspective, given his interview on his vision for the movie, Spice world is irrelevant.

It’s not really a remake of the 1984 version. It’s an original adaptation of the book - which shares a similar storyline
