Your take is off in a few respects.
First though offense played well in some respects they did not outplay our defense.

We were determined to win the rush game. Our last two games prove that all yards are not created equal. Rushing yards are far more important as they lead to TOP and fewer turnovers generally. Our defense held WSU to 93 yards with only six in the box. We were 3-3-5 all game playing a nickel. Our linebackers and other defenders read the handoffs well and closed quickly. Defense’s shutdown of the run game with six in box was deciding factor.

The WSU fans around me were all frustrated with deLaura’s inability to connect downfield. Our zone frustrated them greatly. We blitzed more than once and I don’t recall success with the blitz.

I think next week’s game plan will be very close to this week’s plan. Establish run against suspect defense and contain big plays. I think we will probably have some chances for chunk plays. I suspect turnovers will be very key next week
