He finished just before I started so we didn’t overlap/I never met him.

But early on in my mission I was companions with an older missionary (convert) in his final transfer who had been a pitcher at UCLA before the mission.

This companion hated BYU, and liked to tell me often that the reason Ben transferred was because of his influence. He claimed that he was the one to thank for Ben’s transfer and was the one who got Ben to consider UCLA and then ultimately decide to transfer.

(This companion also thought very highly of himself so I doubt his influence was anywhere near what he claimed.)
