It really is fascinating the different perspectives on that game that are out there. I was there that day, and I've read
discussions about it here on CB over the years, plus the various articles and talks that have been written and given about it.

Depending on your perspective and background, that was either some good-natured ribbing by the fans (exactly the same as chanting "air ball" every time a player touches the ball after shooting an air ball) or a vile and reprehensible display of vitriol utterly unbecoming of anyone who claims to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

I didn't see anyone in the seats around me who was booing out of anger or menace. The people around me were all booing very much in the spirit of the "air ball" chant. Apparently Bobick's wife took it very differently, and I guess there were some near her who did intend the booing to be mean-spirited and hurtful. That is wrong, IMO, and I definitely don't condone that. But I do not believe that very many fans that day were doing anything more than good-natured ribbing.

I will say one thing, though. The guy that Elder Holland quoted who said something to the effect of "we check our religion at the door" is an absolute idiot. What a horrible thing to say. I agree 100% with Elder Holland that anyone with that kind of attitude needs to repent and develop some integrity. If you are a Christian on Sundays, you are a Christian every day. Even at sporting events. I still can't believe that someone would say such a thing or think that kind of attitude would ever be ok.
