another $19m to split among all of those conferences. And Indy's (not ND) split like $1.5m.

So yes it is shared...but in a measured and acceptable way.

That said - I also do not think that the $4m difference a conference will feel by losing out of a single NY6 game will hurt them that much when you consider the following.

Outside of guaranteed contract money that each P5 gets (above the $19m sent to Go5 conf) each conf has additional money tied to their contract bowls. B1G/PAC get $40m additional each for the Rose this year. SEC/B12 get $40m additional each for the Sugar this year. And for both that is in addition to their $4m for participating in the game. In contract years for Orange the ACC gets $27m and the other side (either SEC/B1G or ND) gets the other $27m.

So while I do believe their is a concerted effort to corral as much money as possible to the P5's, including that $4m participation money, I believe it is more about consolidating the prestige and keeping the public believing that only THEY are worthy.

So I am on the fence about whether it is possible for them to let Cincy reach the CFP and/or BYU reach a NY6 (in any year let alone in the same year) because we are invited to the P5 party now so technically our prestige adds to their prestige.

I could see B12 affiliated members of the committee being more willing to vote up Cincy/BYU this year as we are future members. Us being highly ranked help legitimize the moves. Also if they can stick it to OU by voting them lower it helps them as well.

So there is a possible cross roads on the concerted effort to keep outsiders out and the starting to include those soon to not be outsiders. I am not yet convinced it is that way...but there is some reason to believe it could be...
