Interesting that they monitor fans. I haven't heard of that before. In rugby though, there is accountability for the refs. They are interviewed after. They are disciplined if they are failing to do their job or make too many mistakes. I know in football crews might be relegated but there is no accountability. I see that as the biggest problem. If this were a Rugby match, that ref would have to answer as to why he didn't make this call later. Missing it is an ok answer if it happens every now and then. No one is perfect. This game is a prime example of either blatant negligence or incompetence.
