We almost never stayed in a hotel. It was either camping or sleeping at a distance acquaintance’s house on their floor.
When I was a teen my dad took my brother and I to Vancouver BC. It was an awesome trip, but he found the cheapest motel for us to stay in. It was scary between the bugs and the sounds of violence coming from the street.
