Ha, yes, the promise of future rewards for current abstinence is hard for kids
I've used that before... "we won't buy ice cream here, but pick up a carton on the way home and eat it at home." I actually follow through with it, but I think my kids still are irked that they can't have the ice cream in the moment. I get it ...
