Every other team just laughs because they get the joke and own that BYU had the best year they’ve ever had against the PAC12.
They have enough self worth to know their bad luck will likely turn around.
But the Utes…all the Utes down in Uteville, the tall and the small. They know that a LOT of their identity is going away.
So smug, so superior. And rightly so. In football, they were better for 9 straight years. Consistently better. BUT only SLIGHTLY better, consistently.
But they acted like Alabama, Clemson, OhSt, or the like. When in reality, they were closer to Boise than Bama.
So is BYU, but we don’t pretend that isn’t the case. Utah needs to own their identity as the Esau to our Jacob
So while the PAC laughs with BYU; they also laugh at Utah. (Well, maybe not this year, but most others when they are the Coastal Carolina of the PAC. Chicken mascots and all.)
