The only argument I’ve ever heard defending the soccer offsides rule is

“Do you really think it would be fair to have the offense be 1V1 with the goalie?”

Soccer discourages fast breaks and scoring.

I do agree with you that most people who don’t like a sport, it’s because they don’t understand the rules. I’m with you on hockey, rugby is one for me i think id like if I knew the rules.
