He's being told to throw that way because he's not as accurate. He even said so

in not so many words. In an interview with Jarom as they reviewed one of his deep throws that was the stereotypical "throw it a little underthrown so the receiver can make a play", Hall called it an underthrow.

Basically, Roderick is a great coach customizing the scheme and plays to the talent of his players, which is great.
