All the secondary characters became embroiled in soap opera like situations of the sort you'd find in any other show. They then diminished Ted Lasso's character by explaining away his natural optimism and buoyancy as just a coping mechanism for dealing with trauma. It felt fresh and unique in season one, and in season two the plot simply followed the well worn path of a million tropey shows before it.
Also the Beard episode was one of the dumber things I've ever seen on a scripted TV show.
