Because how you win or lose matters…
Utah pummeled Oregon twice. They led the Rose Bowl against a blue blood top 10 team for most of the game. BYU was scraping by bad teams then got beat by a pretty average team. How you win or lose games matter significantly in the eyes of voters. BYU was mediocre down the stretch while Utah was playing well.
