That's why it's so "dangerous" - not because people get super sick and die, but
because so many have it at once. If you think of this family as the employees of your local grocery store, having them all be unable to work at the same time causes major problems. Right now "slow the spread" doesn't mean keep your family/neighbors safe because they might end up in the hospital or die, but it means we have to try to keep enough people healthy enough at the same time to keep necessary jobs/industries functioning
