Many of the future Big 12 teams are currently finding success on the football field, but actually don't have long track records of sustained success. BYU has a lot more stability in terms of coaching tenure, which makes a big difference in football. Some of the other programs have coaching turnover every 2-4 years, either from lack of performance or from performing a little too well. When these programs do become good, then their coaches are sometimes poached by larger schools or by the NFL.
