Lohner initially committed to Utah. And not just committed, but signed. Lohner then changed his mind and decided BYU would be the best fit.
Kudos to Utah (the program) for releasing him from his obligation when they were under no requirement to do so and knew he'd be going to their rival. Unfortunately, many Utah fans were pretty bitter about this and decided that Lohner switching after signing was a sign that BYU was nefarious in recruiting him, either offering incentives or even just continuing to recruit a player who had officially signed elsewhere - that BYU "stole" him.
That bitterness is evident here, where when Lohner has been struggling you've got some Utah fans acting as if they dodged a bullet by not getting him
