I’m with the yips (outside shooting) theory. Mental block leading to pause and poor/inconsistent mechanics. Not a natural motion, and from what I’ve heard at times different in games than practice. Down low he also seems to lack some touch/feel and/or rush the move/shot. There have been times he has looked good in the paint, but certainly no consistency there either.

Overall I think he just needs to go to work and shoot more and work on his mechanics and mental aspect. Not sure we’ll see more improvement until the off season.

It’s certainly hurting the team. Pope can’t put him on the floor to end games to defend because he can’t shoot or hit free throws. I’d certainly have put him on the floor the last possession of last night to defend, however. Scu player who hit the game winner had huge height advantage over Lucas. Coaching fail.
