Serious, horrible.

No carry, no travel, just the norm in today's NBA, drives me nuts.

It really sticks out when you watch an old NBA video from like the 80's. Your

Nearly every dribble in today's NBA starts with the hand underneath the ball...

Do they every call a carry in the NBA?
BYUheaven

Impossible to guard someone who can just run without having to dribble.

LOL, I just came to link this. That is such a bad no call. Yes, others get away
Cougar TD

At the very beginning, is he picking up his dribble?
Hawk in the 303
5/4/22 10:42am
Yes, he had just dribbled.

So a carry? travelling? double-dribble? Too hard to say, so just let it go.
Hawk in the 303

By rule it would not be a travel. But carries rarely get called.

Ja carries it on every possession like many others in the NBA. They don't call it on anyone.

Interesting that the game was decided by a travel call on Klay
BYU Fan

This year they decided to start calling the two feet moving before you establish your pivot foot. It really comes down

I don't watch a ton of NBA basketball but I don't recall that ever being called
BYU Fan
5/4/22 11:02am
It was a travel. But was a point of emphasis this year (or last I can't remember) and wasn't called before that.
kimdaddy35
5/4/22 11:07am
Fair enough - the announcer and crowd both seemed to see it in real time
BYU Fan

I agree 100% with you. What Klay did gains much less of an advantage than what Ja did. Ja being able to do that makes

I think it was the very next play.

You are absolutely correct - that was awful, awful inconsistency

What is the call that he missed? Carry? NO, his hand wasn't under the ball. Travel? He was actively dribbling
IBC

If you don't think that is a carry you either don't understand the rules or are delusional.

5/4/22 10:48am
Or a current NBA ref
Cougar TD
5/4/22 10:52am
They know it is a carry, it just isn't something they call.
kimdaddy35
5/4/22 10:53am
I wouldn't call that as a ref, to be honest. These guys have massive hands and

Carry ≠ hand under the ball.

He was palming the ball. Hand doesn’t need to be under the ball.

his hand 100% did turn upward...twice

Bad call, but if it’s that egregious they should post the video at regular speed.

It was just as obvious in full speed.

Yep you can't just hesitate with the ball in your hand in the middle of dribbling.

You can't hesitate with the ball in your hand?Happens every game and every level

No you can't hesitate moving your body with multiple steps all while the ball is in your hand. It doesn't happen on any

The worst is when you try to call travel/carry at pick up ball, and people argue
BYUFootballisBack

Just kidding I never call them anyway, but there is always a huge argument when

Once in pick up, a guy set a screen, and completely ran over the defender.

It's not bad at all. The refs could call a carry bi then they'd need to call 50

I challenge you to show me a single clip of John Stockton carrying the ball as egregiously.
