I'd still call your insurance adjuster and have them come out and look
at the smoke situation. That is where a lot of stuff gets ruined.
We had a ward family years ago have a house fire that burned a couple of rooms upstairs. But they had to throw tons of their stuff out due to smoke damage--especially anything fabric or porous. All their clothes were gone. All carpets, walls, etc. Insurance is a good thing.
