Disney CEO foresees the day when ESPN will only be available by streaming.

ESPN subscribers have fallen to 77 million, down 25% from its zenith of 103 million. Meanwhile, ESPN+ subscribers have climbed to 22 million a 62% increase over last year.

He believes that as more content is added to ESPN+, more cable subscribers will opt not to pay $10/month for ESPN and will cut the chord and subscribe to ESPN+

Traditional cable packages still make the money, but Bob Chapek sees a day when direct-to-customer is the priority for ESPN.
