My best buddy is a ref here in Utah for HS football, and as much as he is a fan of teams, when he is on the field, reffing is its own game within a game. You are working with different refs each week and you are graded by your peers and other board members. Refs are competitive too, so they want to be the best of the best in their sport. I’d say very, very few refs at any competitive level cheat.
