Arkansas left for the SEC 4 years before the Big12 was created.
The Big12 creation occurred shortly after the SEC left the CFA to regain control of their TV rights.

They were big SWC conference rivals at one time... when the SWC disbanded, the BIG12 was formed, Arkansas went to SEC...
