I do think he is a good coach, but these teams that have generational players
should be judged to a very high standard. He seems to make it work with a volatile player like Draymond Green, but I think Steph and Clay balance him out real well.

I like the fact that coaches stick with one team for a long time and can win with that team, but I think in the NBA it is mostly about talent when it comes to generational type players. Steph is arguably the greatest shooter ever and coaching a team with him on it is easier than coaching somewhere else.

Phil Jackson did it in Chicago and LA, but he had Jordan and Kobe, along with Pippen and Shaq. (Not saying Kobe was better than Shaq).
Pat Riley did it in LA and then Miami, but again, he had Showtime with Magic and then Shaq in Miami. Not too mention Kareem and Wade.

I guess I would say Kerr needs to still prove himself. He is a bit like Popovich in that he has always had a generational talent on his team.

Interestingly, given that I am talking about Kerr with the likes of all these other coaches, I don't think he is at their level yet, but he is definitely a good coach, and can move up to great depending on how he performs in the future as the Warriors age and rebuild.
