Generations of BYU fans have grown up since then, many of them have made lots of money, and there is a fair segment out there now that are willing to spend it to go support their school just like alumni at blueblood programs.

I laugh every time I see a comment like this now, this is no longer a universal stereotype of your typical BYU fan, at least the ones I've been living around for the last 25 years outside of Utah and the ones that I've met at road games at Texas, Notre Dame, and in the B1G.
