RE: Leaky sprinkler head question. I have a riser that is at the end of a line,
1) make sure the valve is sealing all the way
2) replace head with one that has an anti-siphon valve in it.

Edit: Anti-siphon might not be the correct term. Rainbirds are called SAM ( https://store.rainbird.com/sprinklers/spray-heads.html?sprays_features=SAM+Seal-A-Matic+Checkvalve )

3) you can also put in a drain valve in the line in a place where you might want the excess water. They seal at higher pressure while the line is running and open to release the unpressurized water when the cycle is finished.
