If it was just the water from the line, I don't think it would leak all day and make a puddle.

The valve must not be shutting off all the way. A lot of times it just gets grains of sand stuck in the seal. It's easy to screw off the top of the valve and clean it out and make sure it seals all the way when it shuts off.

normal heads don't seal shut. All the water in the line will leak out the

A couple drains in the line would probably help then, if you know where the line
