Oranges, but I got the same impression when I was applying for law school. BYU gave me a full ride, yet they still somehow managed to convey the sense that they didn't care that much--at least not compared to some other schools, including ones that were much higher ranked and didn't need to try.
I understand that BYU operates on a much smaller budget than many other schools, but it's not like anyone was throwing cash at me. They were just better at expressing their interest. I don't know if there is a general tendency at BYU to take certain student enrollments for granted, but it sure seems like it sometimes. I wouldn't expect that from Kalani, but he can only do so much on his own.
